Ignition Entertainment @E3 2009 Recap - Part 1back

Ignition Entertainment

Ignition Entertainment, in partnernship with SNK Playmore, Marvelous Entertainment, and Tecmo LTD, made its first appearance at the E3 Expo this year in Los Angeles, CA.  Held at the LA Convention Center from June 2-4, over 41,000 attendees came out to view and demo games from across the entertainment software industry.  Press, retailers, and industry professionals mingled for over 3 days in what is being hailed as a critical success and return to the expo's original roots.

Ignition was on hand to demo four games at its booth: The King of Fighters XII, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Nostalgia, and Samurai Shodown: Edge of Destiny.  Ignition is proud to present a summary of each game's press coverage and previews at E3, as well as our own thoughts on the event.  Thank you and please read on for Part 1 of our recap!

Fresh off the success of our King of Fighters XII Tournament held the week before in Hollywood, we were ready to show off the game to the masses at E3.  Hundreds lined up to duke it out against each other and occasionally test their skills against a seasoned Ignition employee.  We were also honored to receive numerous "Best of E3" awards and nominations for the 3v3 fighting game.  Look out for it this Summer.

Also receiving a raft of awards was Marvelous Entertainment and Vanillaware's Muramasa: The Demon Blade.  We were fortunate enough to have the game's lead designer and artist, George "Jōji" Kamitani, on hand to sign wall-scrolls. Lines snaked around our booth as fans got a chance to shake hands with the acclaimed developer. Numerous demoers lined up to play and commented on its beautiful artistic design and graceful sword gameplay.  This title comes out in September exclusively on the Nintendo Wii.

Come back next week when we close out our coverage of Nostalgia and Samurai Shodown: Edge of Destiny in Part 2 of our E3 recap, as well as more images from our booth and around the expo!
